Machhapuchhre Metal & Machinery Works (MMMW) has opened bookings for 102 shops in Pokhara Mall at Prithvi Chowk.
The company opened booking for the shops after it took over the management of the business complex from Nepal Bank Limited (NBL). NBL handed over the management of the complex to the company through a competitive bidding after it faced loss of Rs 2.25 million a year over the past two years.
Rishi Ram Chiluwa, branch manager of NBL´s Prithvi Chowk branch, said MMMW will look after the management of the complex for the next six years. “It will pay us Rs 20.27 million per year and the amount will increase by 10 percent each year,” he added.
Bishnu Prasad Pandey, owner of MMMW, said the complex is the most modern business complex in the lake city as it boasts of facilities like adequate parking space, drinking water and power backup.
“Shops at the complex are spacious, buyers can redesign them as per their taste,” Pandey told Republica. “I´ve joined hands with businessmen Dhurba Shrestha and Nanda Tiwari to run the complex as a shopping mall.”
Shrestha said they have already received booking for 12 shops. “We plan to bring the mall into operation from next month,” he added.
Shrestha said they would install CCTV cameras and provide free internet service to the tenants. Rental cost at the mall varies from Rs 13,000 to Rs 30,000 a month.
Pokhara Mall will be the first business complex in the lake city to have elevators.
