More Cement manufacturing companies are coming up in the country with the objective of bringing down cement and clicker imports fromo India. Six cement manufacturing companies were registered with the Department of Industry over the first nine months of fiscal year 2010/11 alone. According to officials, Baba Cement, International Cement, Rauta Udayapur Cement, Eastern Cosmos Cement, Chattan Cement and CG Cement together have promosed fresh investment of more than Rs. 3.5 billion and employment to more than 1,000 persons.

Similarly, nine cement manufactuting companies were registered with the Office of Company Registrar during the period. According to officials, these companies -- Sarbottam Cement, Asian Cement, Light Cement, Baba Cement, Janta Cement, Arun Cement, Kapilvastu Cement, Kanchangunja Cement and IDS Cement -- are in the process of getting registered with the Department of Industry by the end of the current fiscal year.
