Ghorahi Cement Industry is preparing to start production by July, 2011.
Situated in Laxmipur VDC of Dang, the industry with the production capacity of 1,100 metric tons (MT) of clinkers per day plans to use 95 percent local labor and resources.
“But we may not meet the target as the road from Katuwakhola to Loharpani - through which we plan to transport limestone and coal - is not in a good condition and the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) isn't doing anything concrete to provide us 8 MW of electricity despite written commitments,” the company said in a statement on Friday.
The industry has requested the government to widen and upgrade the road and take initiative in providing electricity as promised. It plans to use modern technology to control pollution and use tires, rice husks and wood dust as fuel.
The company is planning to raise its production capacity to 2,000 MT per day once it starts production. “This will prevent cement imports worth Rs 10 billion annually,” the statement added.
