The Goenka Group is preparing to start production of Goenka Cement from mid-November. The group has made an investment of Rs. 550 million in its cement factory located in Bhairahawa.
The factory will produce three grades of cement—Goenka Cement 55 MPA PPC, Goenka Gold 53 and 43 Grade OPC—targeting increased demand for cement for industrialisation, urbanization and other infrastructure development projects.
Goenka Gold 53 and 43 Grade are designed for construction of large infrastructure development projects and commercial buildings, while the PPC cement can be used in general construction, said the group.
“It will help fulfil the growing demand for cement in the domestic market,” said Ajay Goenka, director of the Goenka Group. “Our factory will produce cement using an environment friendly closed circuit mill.”
The group claimed that the closed circuit mill and PLC control-based and computerized plant reduce emission of dust into the environment during production. It has planned to use imported clinker to produce cement in the beginning and produce the raw material domestically in the near future from its own mine.
Goenka’s cement factory has a production capacity of 400 tons daily. “We plan to expand the capacity to 800 tons per day within one year,” said Goenka. “We will soon fix a competitive price for our brand.”
The group, which entered the manufacturing business with the production of structural and steel bars in 1978, has been engaged in importing various products including chemical fertilizer, cement, tractors and farm equipment.
