House rent rate up in Kanchanpur

Tenants, mostly students, in Kanchanpur have been facing problems due to about 100 per cent increase in rent rate of the rooms in the municipality areas.

The students who have gone to Bhimdutta municipality from remote areas of the far western region are getting into problem with the rise in the rent rate.

The rent of a room has increased to Rs. 1500 from Rs. 800.

The people said that the rent has increased following the establishment of commercial banks in the area.

The students come to the urban areas with the limited expenditure to complete their higher studies but the increment in the rent has worried them.

The students blamed that the officers of banks and other organizations prefer more facilities in the rented rooms without giving much importance to money which encouraged the house owners to increase the rent. This has created the problem for the students.

The house owners also unnecessarily increase the rent of the room in order to discourage the students to stay in their house so that they could rent their houses to offices, said a student.

Lal Bahadur Damai of Bhajang, a student of Siddhanath Multiple Campus, said that the rise in the rent invited financial problem to the students.

He said that he had been searching another room as the house owner increased the price of the room he was staying.

Prabhu Panta, one of the house owners in Bhimdutta Municipality said that the rent had been increased because of the officers of the bank.

He said that the officers paid the demanded rent and also paid the bill of drinking water and electricity.
