21 November 2022: Kathmandu Metropolitan City is formulating a regulation that will oblige all the landlords and tenants in the metropolis to seal a written agreement between both parties to decrease disputes and regulate the tax imposed on leased property within its jurisdiction.
The metropolis has reviewed the 'Lease Management Action Plan' and sent it to the constituent committee to finally draft it as a regulation. KMC's Deputy Mayor Sunita Dangol conducted a pointwise discussion regarding the proposed regulation.
As per the draft, the landlords and tenants must make written agreement about their deal, keep the copies, and send one more copy to the concerned ward office of the metropolis. Dangol said it would help drastically decrease any sort of dispute between the two sides.
The highest number of complaints received by the judicial committee of the KMC are related to disputes between landlords and tenants.
