Locals operate not to operate cement industry

ITAHARI: Locals of Simariya VDC of Sunsari district have requested to the local administration many times to stop the operation of Morang Cement Industry at the site of a steel industry situated at Simariya VDC-6. They have launched different protest programmes after former secretary of the VDC gave permission to operate the Cement Industry with ill intention. The locals say the operation of the cement factory in the locality will pollute the local environment.

The locals have submitted a fifth memorandum to the Chief District Officer Chudamani Sharma today, requesting the administration intervention to stop the proposed Cement Industry. People of different VDCs including Aurabani, Tanamuna and Madheli have also supported the protest by the locals.

They are on a phase-wise agitation since four months in a bid to stop the establishment of the cement factory. They have set different agitation programmes including carrying out a lockout at the cement Industry on August 5 and a transport strike at Inaruwa-Duhabi road section on August 6.
