NLHDA Real Estate 2010 Expo a big draw

The ongoing NLHDA Real Estate Expo 2014 have attracted a large number of visitors at Bhrikutimandap in the Capital, with the organisers claiming more than 75,000 people visited on the weekend.

Attendants at stalls featuring models of stand-alone house to apartments, furniture and furnishing, to paints, were busy dealing with visitors’ inquiries throughout the day. “We had to extend the opening hour of the expo due to significant inflow of the visitors,” said Min Man Shrestha, general secretary of the Nepal Land and Housing Developers’ Association (NLHDA). He said this was the best turnout yet the real estate sector has witnessed in recent times. Supposed to close at 6pm, the expo remained open till 7pm to allow in the visitors waiting to get in. 

The expo also witnessed a number of spot bookings for properties. “Almost all property developers have reported that they had sold at least one to two residence units,” said Shrestha. Some of have even managed to close the deals on as many as seven residence units on Saturday itself. “Two units of apartment from my own project have been sold.”

According to Shrestha, the event provided a great opportunity for potential buyers to make wise decisions on their projects which have been completed as well as those on the verge of completion.

The provision of Property Clinic on the expo premises has made it easier for the potential buyers to make inquires on legal advice, vastu shastra and other construction related matters such as environment-friendly buildings and earthquake resistant homes.

An attendant of Shangrila Housing reported that they have witnessed a high level of enthusiasm among the visitors making inquiries about the projects. “The number of inquiries suggests they are seriously haunting for property,” the attendant said.

The expo put on offer properties, with their prices ranging from Rs 2 million to Rs 400 million. According to the developers, properties priced in the range of Rs 4 million to Rs 10 million are receiving a maximum number of inquiries.

The fourth edition of the expo has 83 stalls showcasing housing and apartment projects along with stalls featuring construction materials such as cement, steel, paints, pipes, and fittings and sanitary wares, among others. Also on display are furniture, interior designs, decorative items, water purifiers, electronic goods and automobiles. There are also bank and financial stalls, offering attractive home loan packages. The event concludes on Sunday.
