NLHDA Real Estate Expo 2014 is scheduled to start at Exhibition Hall, Bhrikuti Mandap on May 8. It will last for four days. The organiser of the fair, the Nepal Land and Housing Developer’s Association (NLHDA), said that it would provide a good platform for housing developers and buyers as they will get an opportunity to meet each other directly.

Potential customers will also get a chance to gain in-depth information about the houses and apartments on offer.

The exhibition, which is in its fourth edition, will feature more than 150 exhibitors from the land and housing sector. Products related with housing construction and interior designing will also be displayed at the event.

Along with real estate products, the expo will feature quality housing construction materials, furniture, electronic items, glass, sanitary ware, paint, lift, escalator, window, door, pipe and fitting, among others. Exhibitors will be offering their new products and services at discounted rates.

The organiser has also made arrangements for property tours under which potential buyers can visit the various housing projects. Likewise, those looking for housing loans will find representatives from various banks and financial institutions on hand to offer their services. According to the NLHDA, there will be a property clinic where visitors can consult experts about Vastu Shastra, investment ideas, earthquake resistant home construction and legal advice, among other topics.

NLHDA Chairman Ichchha Raj Tamang said on Wednesday that the expo would provide information about the current scenario in the real estate sector. “The expo not only aims to pull crowds, it will also be a milestone in providing information about the current situation in the real estate business ,” he said.

Tamang added that the real estate started recovering from the last fiscal year. “Our analysis based on data of the Land Revenue Office shows that the realty sector has recovered by around 32 percent this year from last year,” he said. “The expo will also help to boost the culture of living in apartments.”

Housing entrepreneur Tamang is also a lawmaker. According to the NLHDA, the estimated size of the real estate market in the country is around Rs 250 billion.

Meanwhile, Minman Shrestha, coordinator of the fair, said this year’s expo would be more effective and interactive than last year.

“This year, we are planning to extend the scope and criteria

of the exhibitors focusing on housing design and banking with the aim of attracting small and large scale buyers,” said Shrestha, who is also the general secretary of the NLHDA. “Moreover, we will be promoting eco-friendly and earthquake resistant housing at the event.”

Similarly, Mahesh Swar, assistant general manager of Kantipur Publications, said that the company had partnered with the NLHDA for the event to help the real estate industry flourish. “We are hopeful that the expo will boost consumer confidence which will be helpful in raising the entire industry,” he said, adding that it would provide a common platform for sellers, consumers, engineers and other stakeholders.

The organiser has expected 150,000 visitors to attend the fair. The price of a ticket has been fixed at Rs 50.
