The construction of Banisher- Chame road is speeding up while the current fiscal year is coming to an end.
Though the construction task has been scaling up, the locals of Manang would be deprived of transportation facilities in this fiscal year too because of the non completion of the task.
The government had aimed to construct the roadway in this fiscal year in Manang but it was delayed as the construction task was not done regularly in the previous months.
It has been 15 years that the government has announced in its policies, programmes and budget speeches to construct the road but the dream of Manang people to ride on vehicles at the road of Manang is being shattered each year.
The finance minister from Dr. Ramsharan Mahat to Surendra Pandey though allocated the budget for the construction of road at Manang, but the Besisahar-Chame road is still unable to reach Manang.
Out of total 65 kilometers from Besisahar to Chame, only 52 kilometer has been constructed.
According to a report, 30 kilometers from Besisahar to Jagat and 22 kilometers from Chame to Dharapani road sections have been completed till now. Similarly, it has been two years that the vehicles run on 32 kilometer stretch of road from Besisahar to Shrichaur.
Binod Jung Rana, chief of task force of Besisahar- Chame road, said that there had been delay in the construction of the road because of the conflicts between the villagers and the high ranking security personnel of Taal village.
Nepal Army has been constructing this road from 2057 B.S..The construction was first started by the Road Department in 2051 B.S..
The tourists visiting to Annapurna would be facilitated with the construction of this road. This would also help for the export of potato, medicinal herbs and apples produced in Manang.
