With the festive season fast approaching, it is the perfect time to upgrade the look of your home with new decorative items. From getting a new bed-sheet, carpet, curtain or even cushion covers, customers have the opportunity to do so at the Furniture and Furnishing Expo being held at Bhrikutimandap in the Capital.
Domestic and international brands are gathered under one roof to showcase swanky kitchen sets, innovative furniture models and designs among others. Aside from the immaculate displays, customers will also receive discounts during the expo.
Companies are looking to cater to the growing purchasing power of people in Nepal and have launched high-quality products that command high prices.
One such company is Spacewood, an Indian furniture company based in Maharastha. The company has been grabbing the attention of visitors with their Turin recliner which has an introductory price of Rs222,000.
“We have been selling an innovative sofa set that comes with folding features and is also designed to deliver a luxurious experience,” said Sudhir Raj Singh, business head of Spacewood.
The recliner supports lying down, seating and is washable, he said. The sofa set comes with three years of warranty and the company has been offering 10 percent discount on it.
According to Singh, the company has already received six orders for the recliner.
Shaurya Exim, the authorised dealer of Spacewood Furniture in Nepal, also offers beds with prices ranging from Rs82,000 to Rs500,000. Similarly, a wide range of dining sets are available with prices starting from Rs36,000. The company offers sofa sets starting from Rs100,000 to Rs500,000.
The company provides warranty for up to 10 years along with after sales service.
Another company making waves at the expo is Little Nap Recliners, which is showcasing their signature designed dining table. It has a price tag of Rs395,000.
The attractive dining set has uniquely designed dining chairs and table.
According to Suban Raj Bhandari, director and interior designer at Little Nap Recliner, the dining set has been manufactured using high-skilled labour and is handcrafted. The company has been offering 20 percent discount on the dining set. “We have been receiving good response from customers,” he said.
Similarly, Peps Mattress, an India company has been offering a 20 percent discount on their products, with their most popular mattress costing Rs238,000. The company constructs the mattress from memory foam mould and is designed with scientific construction for lasting comfort.
Apart from filling in the spaces in your home, another aspect of home decoration that is becoming popular with consumers is hiring professional interior designers.
Best Interiors, one of the stalls at the expo, has been providing home decor services.
The company has been charging Rs210 per square feet of 12mm parquet and Rs145 per square feet for 5mm parquet, said Niroj Thapa, senior designer at Best Interiors.
The home decor service charge starts from Rs500,000 to Rs1.5 million, he said. Kitchen, bedroom and living room design have been major attraction of Best Interiors, he said.
“We have already received orders for four full house decor services during the expo, he said,” he said, adding that more business is expected in the future.
