According to the National Seismological Centre (NSC), an aftershock with local magnitude 4.5 was recorded at 7:49 am today with its epicentre near Marbu of the district, with coordinates of 27.78 °N and 86.35 °E.Similarly, another aftershock of local magnitude 4.1 was recorded earlier at 6:22 am with its epicentre near Bulung, with coordinates of 27.82 °N and 86.14 °E.
Two weeks ago, the NSC had also recorded an aftershock of local magnitude 4.1 that had its epicentre south of Ashrang in Gorkha district, with coordinates of 27.82 °N and 86.14 °E.
The NSC has recorded more than 30,000 aftershocks of the Gorkha earthquake in a year, but data of around 460 significant aftershocks with local magnitude 4.0 or above have been processed to alert the public.
